Semi-finished jewelry products

Semi-finished jewelry products

The history of semi-finished jewellery product manufacture at SAFINA MATERIALS stretches back to the 19th century. SAFINA MATERIALS is now the largest producer of materials for use in the production of jewellery. We specialise in the manufacture of semi-finished products in the form of wires, sheet metals and granulated metal. The basic materials used are alloys of Au and Ag in all lawful purities. We also offer our customers a wide range of Au and Ag chains and mechanisms of the corresponding colour, standard gold and silver blanks and rhodium baths, as well as surface rhodium plating.

Sheet metal

Made of Au and Ag alloys in all lawful purities. Au alloys differ depending on the presence of other metals, which in turn affect, among other, their characteristic colouring - dark yellow, yellow, light yellow, white, pink, red, dark red or green. This also affects the mechanical properties of the alloy, in particular its hardness. Sheet metal is supplied either annealed or unannealed, as required. Rolled sheet metals are commonly produced in thicknesses that increase 0.1 mm at a time. Ag alloys, meanwhile, are mostly represented by sheet metals of 925/1000 purity and to a lesser extent, 935/1000 purity. Ag sheet metal can again be supplied annealed or unannealed in thicknesses that increase 0.1 mm at a time.

Wires

Made of Au and Ag alloys. Au wires can be supplied annealed or unannealed, as required. Drawn wires are usually made in thicknesses that increase 0.1 mm at a time. The most popular wires are those of square section of 5x5 mm and 3x3 mm in dimension. Ag alloys, meanwhile, are mostly represented by wires of 925/1000 purity and to a lesser extent, 935/1000 purity. Wires can again be supplied annealed or unannealed, usually in thicknesses that increase 0.1 mm at a time.

Granulated metal
Fine Au and Ag and materials of all lawful purities. These products are used mostly in the technique of casting jewellery and in fine forms for alloying.

Chains and mechanisms
The quality of our chains is of the utmost importance. Chains are always supplied uncoloured in metres, unfinished. Our range includes various styles, including ankr, pancr, figaro, coffee bean, etc. Mechanisms are predominantly finishing mechanisms for the production of necklaces and hanging mechanisms for earrings made of Au and Ag alloys. Au finishes come in yellow, white and red.

Solders
Gold jeweller’s solders are primarily made in the form of sheets of yellow, white and red 14- or 18-carat gold 0.35 mm thick. Solders that enable the progressive soldering of layers are popular.

Silver jeweller’s solders come in the form of alloys with 60%, 66% or 75% Ag content and different Cu and Zn content. These come in the form of plates or wires or in powder form – granulated solders.

Rhodium baths
SAFINA MATERIALS offers SAFIRON rhodium baths as a standard. Using a SAFIRON rhodium bath produces a brilliant white surface and outstanding depth and coats the entire area perfectly. Gold, silver, copper, nickel and alloys thereof can be plated directly. Tin, zinc, lead, aluminium and iron must be copper-plated or nickel-plated before rhodium plating.

The basic SAFIRON 02 bath is supplied in one-litre packages for direct use. It contains 2 grams of rhodium dissolved in sulphuric acid. The SAFIRON 10 bath, meanwhile, is used to replenish used basic baths and is supplied in 200-ml packages with a content of 10 grams of dissolved rhodium. From a chemical perspective, SAFIRON is rhodium sulphate.
